Hey Jake

I would have liked to show you the last thing I wrote for you:

I wish I could talk to you, hold you close once more,

I’d be lying if I said I’m fine, if I didn’t ache for you like before.

I don’t know why I love you this way,

you cast a spell I can’t break or escape.

I think of you at any time,

oh God, how do I quiet this mind?

I cannot stop you, you cannot stay,

the only path is forward, come what may.

You said you’d never forget my name,

yet I can’t help fearing that won’t stay the same.

You’ll stop being you, and I’ll stop being me,

we’ll fade from what we once used to be.

No part of you was ever mine,

nothing in you was meant to entwine.

It had to be so, this destined decree,

you are the first and last chronicle of a death foretold to me.

But at least here, in this forgotten space,

with my hand on my heart, my soul laid bare,

I beg you to turn, just once again,

to look at me, just for a moment then,

and open your arms, I plead, I implore,

please, just once, hold me once more.

Please don’t go, don’t leave me behind,

I can’t live with you, nor without you in mind.

Forever a secret my soul will keep,

how I love you, how you steal my sleep.

I love you so much, too much, beyond measure,

I long to embrace you, to never let go of that treasure.

I wish I had known if within your eyes

I could also see myself arise.

Farewell, part of my soul, my precious dear,

farewell to you, whom I’ll always want near.

I wish you the best. Miss you.
