Soldering question

So im going on a trip on march 14th and would love to bring my drone, issue is i messed up a motor and it needs to be replaced. I am not good at soldering and i havent had time to learn before the trip although ive done it a couple times. Im scared to solder onto my esc. Can i use the old motor wires, cut them halfway up the arm, and solder the new wires to those wires and heatshrink them? The only thing wrong with the old motor was i dented it, so nothing electrical. Thanks!
