Am I going blind or is this normal with glasses?
So, I (25M) have been wearing glasses for almost 12 years now, and I've noticed a pattern. I'm wondering if my chronic illness (which is undiagnosed but confirmed to be very real and potentially involve MS) is affecting my eyes somehow.
For context: MS (multiple sclerosis) is a degenerative disease which harms your nerves by breaking down the protective coating on your nerves and causing miscommunication between the brain and body.
Furthermore, my eyes have never been all that great and neither has my sense of smell, and my doctors and I have determined that my vagus nerve is malfunctioning (which may be caused by the MS). This affects my other nerves, my brain activity, my heart, and my GI tract. I have seizures, POTS, and partial paralysis of my digestive tract (gastroparesis).
They all work hand in hand, but if we stop the vagus nerve malfunction, most of my major symptoms might go away. Now, here's where my glasses come into play: each time I get new glasses, I have maybe a year and a half before I begin to notice that my vision is once again declining. This type of decline is often found in MS patients as MS tends to go for the eyes.
Now for my question: is this normal, or am I going blind? I mistook a sub/ hoagie/ hero for a pork roast at the supermarket today... I feel very dumb... and blind.
