I chose the obvious clock theme for my NYE coord, and the Liz Bird OP was perfect for that! I've also wanted one of these clock bags like forever, so took the plunge and finally got one just in time (pun intended, and yes the clock really works - the picture was taken at two in the afternoon; it was a looong day, and I only survived to midnight due to plentiful cocktails).

Initially I tried to coord the OP like the brand did in the stock images as I also have the matching bloomers (but had to remove the lining in order to fit them comfortably when sitting) and that didn't work at all; much too short and way too little poof for my taste (only the very shortest and minimally poofy petti was able to fit under the OP as it was). But then I remembered a fabulous underskirt by Dark Star Island I'd just acquired a couple of weeks prior and it was perfect IMO for giving the rather simple sack cut a much more opulent and flouncy look, which also fitted nicely together with the collar and those gorgeous sleeves.

And of course I wanted the headwear to fit the velvet and excessive ruffles, so I layered a couple of headdresses and stuck an actual bag handle on top for even more opulence (it has lobster clasps which I just clipped onto the brooch pins of the bows) and to my surprise it stayed firmly secure for the whole duration.

It was just about 0°C in temperature and I didn't have a coat where the sleeves of the OP could fit in without being a very tight squeeze (I'm currently working on a jacket where the sleeves can actually fit unrestricted) so I went with layering a couple of capes instead and they kept me surprisingly warm (wearing plateau shoes also keeps you away from the cold ground) so I was pleasantly cozy whenever I was outside.

I had a blast and received a very heartfelt compliment from one of the old timers at the pub - He said it warmed his heart and made him very happy to see someone being so unapologetically themselves.
