Young tutors: Do you treat some of your students casually?

I’m 19 and tutor piano for ages 5-80.

I started off super rigid and professional, but started to mellow out a year into tutoring.

I went from being the typical strict and formal Asin piano teacher, to an unserious (but still helpful teacher.

I would crack jokes, talk casually, and act super chill with my students, instead of being strict and formal. The only downside is that the students didn’t feel as pressured to practice, since they knew my reaction would’ve been less harsh.

While my current teaching method makes it more enjoyable for me and my students, I just don’t know if this is a frowned upon thing to do. Especially if the parents were paying.
