Replacing lenses in plastic frame

When replacing lenses in an older plastic frame, let’s say 3 years, should the frame be heated before pushing the old lens out? Is it much more likely to break if it’s not heated first? Is frame breakage just as likely heated vs not due to the plastic being brittle? This particular frame was fairly thin too.
