One thing that confuses me about 4

In the immediate scene following Jill's kitchen conversation with Sidney, Sidney peers into the glass and sees someone stalking very slowly around the corner. Was that Jill? If so, what was the purpose of this? Did Sidney not become immediately suspicious of this behavior? I don't get why this scene was even included. ​​
