Drill through page - step through assets without going back to main page?

I have a bunch of assets that are reported on in a dashboard, and these can be drilled down into to see the details for each one (pretty standard stuff)

What I'm trying to do is be able to step through the assets from within the drill down page without having to go back to the main page - so there would be "next asset" and "previous asset" buttons

Does anyone know of a way to do this? I'm able to get the ID of the previous and next assets (so a row would have ID, previous ID, next ID + rest of the info about that asset), but I can't figure out how to turn that into workable buttons

Any help would be appreciated :)
