AITAH for sending confrontational voice notes to my college friends?

Am I the asshole for sending confrontational voice notes to my college friends?

Slightly complicated one, but I’d appreciate some advice.

My (19F) friend group at college is a group of 6 guys, and 4 girls including me. Last year we went on a group vacation, and it overall went well and was a very cute trip. This year, we are planning to do the same. I will name the girls P, G, and B for this explanation.

One of the girls, P, has a friend from home (Jack) who has been spending more time with the group since September. He is a gay man for context. Jack often hangs out with us, but things still happen without him. When Jack is around, he can divide the group. Jack and G are very close but it manifests in quite an elaborate, screechy display of laughter. P has expressed feeling upset about Jack and G often running off together and excluding people. I do (or did) consider myself relatively close to Jack.

The girls have had issues with divisions in the past, so making sure everyone is included on vacation is important. This meant an issue arose when G invited Jack on our vacation for this year without asking anyone. Most in the group are close with Jack, but it shouldn’t have happened. Also, as B and Jack aren’t close, his likely rooming with the girls produces an uncomfortable situation for B. G briefly acknowledged her mistake when this first happened months ago, but we haven’t had a proper conversation about it. To be clear, I would rather he wasn't there, and think his attention seeking tendencies would ruin it.

We will soon plan this year’s vacation, so I sent a message to the girls groupchat asking if the trip had been mentioned in front of Jack recently. This is because I want to know if it is the intention to keep him involved with the trip or phase him out of the plan and deal with it later (this is a possibility we had touched on before). G immediately responds, ‘why?’. I found this response slightly frustrating, because it felt obvious that I wanted to understand what the plan was. To me it felt she was playing dumb, so I responded ‘Sorry but what do you mean why, we are ready to book early next week its quite relevant’. She responded ‘well duh but I didn’t know what you were implying’ Bear in mind that this group of girls, often particularly G, is supposed to be my closest friends at college. I respond ‘Ok well that makes it difficult for me to talk about it’, because when she acts confused about this discussion she forces me to choose between what feels like if I like Jack or don’t, which this conversation should never have come to and still isn’t about. She responds to that that she ‘isn’t a mind reader’.

I respond with voice notes perhaps said confrontationally as I am frustrated at this stage, effectively saying ‘Is he coming to the arrangements or not’ (G spends a lot more time with Jack than I do). I go on to ask ‘why is this awkward to talk about, I really like Jack and I’m not sure why it is now SO difficult to have a conversation about the holiday,  he shouldn’t have been asked. Im finding it frustrating that you (G) are not allowing any space for conversation about this, because you are making it political when the decision for him not to come should always have been logistical’. I go on to talk about how her pretending not to understand makes me uncomfortable because I am forced to be confrontational when it shouldn’t have come to this. B hears these voice notes, and agrees with my assertiveness as we are almost being forced into a decision otherwise as nobody will actually confront the decision for Jack to attend or not. I wasn’t 100% sure about Jack coming initially, but G’s response to me trying to have a conversation about his attendance (her putting her back up, acting clueless etc) makes me almost certain I don’t want him there. She continues to be defensive in the group chat, passive aggressive and defensive - something I find ironic considering that this entire issue was caused by her. I can’t use P’s similar frustration with Jack’s invite with G, as Jack is P’s friend from home and it would put her in a bad position as G is clearly willling to defend Jack.

I have heard today that G found these voice notes ‘rude’ and ‘very aggressive’. I have had a problem with people in the group not being upfront about issues, and this is something which has really upset me, so I thought it would be worthwhile to put it all on the table. Ultimately, I suppose I had hoped that we would be able to have an open conversation, but it got awkward really quickly and I found G’s lack of receptiveness to force my hand. It felt almost like she was defending Jack in some way, in response to her making the issue emotional rather than practical. Am I the Asshole for expressing my emotion about this?
