WsOP - What exactly does ISR entail? And how does streaming work

RAF RECRUITMENT

Hi all,

I’m thinking about RAF aircrew roles. Pilot was the original plan, but I’m too old for this role. I absolutely love aircraft and travel - so I’m looking at other options where I can still spend a lot of time on or around aircraft.

At the moment, Loadmaster is my top choice - I like the idea of being on the aircraft, moving around, managing cargo, travelling, and actually being part of the flying, rather than sitting at a desk.

I’ve looked at all of the WSOp streams, but I’m a bit wary of being streamed into ISR if it ends up being mostly sitting in front of screens. I currently work in IT and just can't see myself working in IT ever again (even if its technically not the same, im defo more interested in a more physical job)

If anyone here is WSOp ISR , what’s the day-to-day actually like?
And realistically, how easy (or hard) is it to aim specifically for Loadmaster - is it a stream I can mention my preference for beforehand?

I know there are other routes which may suit me more too such as Avionics Engineer or Mover (For the travel aspect whilst still being physically hands-on) but of course these are different roles and I have to apply to a single one I believe?

Thanks
