The often forgotten way to get a "yes" in a conversation or interview etc.

Usually, in an interaction, it’s so natural for us to focus on:

- What we want and how to get it

- Whether we’re saying the right thing

- How competent we seem

- How to convince someone our desire or idea is important

And so, it’s easy to forget a simple but powerful idea…the other person is probably doing the same thing!

So, to increase the chances of getting a yes, first find out what it’s like in their shoes.

- What do they want right now?

- What do they care about?

- What problem are they trying to solve?

Once you know, you can frame your desire in a way that also gets them what they want.

At the very least, when people feel heard and understood, they are then more receptive to hear and understand you.
