Heating Element Integration - The Electric "Toaster" Method
- Resistive heating element selection and placement
- Power requirements: 5-20 kW for residential scale
- Air flow design: How to move heat through the sand mass
- Temperature monitoring: Thermocouple placement strategy
- Safety systems: Overtemperature protection, fail-safes
Real-world benchmark: NREL heats sand to 1,200°C. For residential heating, you only need 400-600°C and far less, making this much safer and simpler. If the sand is 140C the water passing through your piping coil will be at 2 Bar so thats the maximum temp for domestic use unless you are building for plus 240C for your steam driven Tesla coil to produce electricity.
