Just started Below Zero after +100 hours on Subnautica. My character speaks to herself a lot. Is she schizophrenic?

I really hope we come up with better ways of storytelling, or that my character actually has an illness in the lore where she talks to herself. Like, not joking. Not trying to be an insensitive asshole. Death Stranding does something similar masterfully.

After all, Subnautica also did it excellently by not fixing a problem that didn't exist, without worrying about the consequence of this decision. The protagonist's silence added a natural, yet disturbing and off-putting layer of loneliness in this frighteningly inviting alien paradise.

I know sometimes I talk to myself IRL when I do something stupid, or get very engaged. But I don't explain the plot of my life to myself out loud. I don't know anyone who does. Why does this trope still exist? And why is there a "base" already pre-built before I even got to this planet?

I feel like the only reason I may dislike this game, is because of how much I love Subnautica.

But this still has that charm and mystery in the water. Plants are moving. There's something here. Let's see what happens.
