Lullaby for a Dead Little Spider
⚠️Content Warning: death of an insect, quiet existential horror. Not recommended for singing to the living.
Silence rings in every corner,
Little spider spins no thread,
No flies are humming in the shadows,
No lonely beetle rustles there.
Little spider creeps no longer,
No wings of flies now crack,
His fragile legs are curled and still,
No "free lunch" on his web.
Sleep the sleep of death, little spider,
Mosquitoes softly sing:
"No one is afraid of you now,
We fly wherever we wish."
The draft will carry little spider
Into deep cracks in the wall,
Where dust will be his featherbed,
Where death and silence fall.
