Why are gay men more likely to listen to pop music, and why are straight men less likely?

I've been wondering this recently, and it's interesting to me why straight men are ridiculed for listening to pop music. I think the easy explanation for this is, of course, that it's a lot more feminine (which is potentially damaging to one's masculinity) than another genre like rock. But, something I found difficult to answer was about why many gay men are more attracted to pop music? Is it down to a more welcoming community, or something to do with the style of the music? Despite this, there are anomalies with this, like how many straight men listen to stereotypically 'girls and gays' music and are fully comfortable with it, along with gay men enjoying non-pop genres. What are your thoughts on this?
