Millions - Billions / Lakhs - Crores

Why is in every Indian podcast host or guest using Millions-Billions metric not Lakh-Crores. They talk in context of India but still use words million.

Is there any logic behind it? Or just trying to cool?

Ive experienced it frequently in Rajshamani podcast and many other financial gurus podcasts.
