Why do all thrusters sound the same of other ships around you?

So.. not too long ago you could hear what ship was approaching. You knew how drake sounded, a gladius.. or any ship. Now every ship sounds like an angry distorted mosquito. Theres no difference if the ship is small or large. And they all sound the same.

I really really miss that. It sounds cheap and dull now. Is this something technical? Will it return? It had so much flair.. character.. immersion!!
