Actonel for Osteoporosis

Two years ago I did a dexa scan and found out I have severe osteoporosis. The doctor recommended generic Actonel. Last year I took it for several months then stopped at her direction because I had to have minor surgery. Back in August she told me to re-start taking it. I take 150mg once a month on the 15th of the month. For almost a month now I have had excruciating pain in my jaw from my chin all the way up to my ear both top and bottom. I’ve been living on Advil and ice packs. I recently did some research and found out that Actonel has an uncommon side effect called osteocrosis of the jaw. Memorial Sloan Kettering, a well known cancer research hospital in New York City says ONJ is a rare but very bad side effect of certain medicines that target the bone. The site goes on to say for every 100 people who take the medication only about 1 or 2 people will get ONJ. I am going to stop taking the medication and see what happens. Does anyone have experience with this? I have a high tolerance for pain but this pain is like nothing else.
