Hi! I would love some advice for this tank. Its our family's 27G community tank.

Plants established include Yellow flame bacopa, dwarf bacopa, water wisteria, h. Polysperma, nymphaea stellata, spiral val.
The big leaves on the right are a frond on majesty palm to break up growlights spill and give snails somewhere to hang out. The little leaves on left are some plastic grass that a friend suggested would help with danio reproduction.
New plants in this picture are dracaena (giant stalks!), monstera, assorted pothos. The pot has a nymphaea stellata that im sprouting here and then will move to goldfish tank.
Fauna currently: 5 zebra danio, 1 cpd, 1 cardinal tetra, 4 kuhli loaches, cherry shrimp (around 27 right now).

Lighting: grow lights on potted plants nearby and also directed towards dracaena 4 hrs in morning (7am to 11am), hygger light for 6 hrs (2pm to 8pm) on purple. Purple was an arbitrary choice my daughter liked it. I wanted to get out of 24 hr cycle for winter since i had the growlights nearby and the tank was getting a lot of incidental light from them. (Background info: we were away for Christmas and at some point catsitter messed up lighting timers. I dont know if they were just on all the time but when i came home the tank was thick with duckweed, green with algae, and i had list 4 danios, one cpd, and 2 loaches... and loaches were stressed out.)

10 days ago i added this piece of driftwood with java moss on it and this monstera. The driftwood is for the goldfish tank and the monstera came from the goldfish tank. I imagined this would be temporary but i kind of love then here and it has me rethinking the longterm plan.

Longterm plan was to keep on growing plants, build up school of CPD to 6 fish, get danios back up to 8 - 10 fish, when plants get thicker add 2 gourami (honey or blue).

Since adding that piece of wood and the monstera EVERYTHING IS GROWING SO SLOW! Its dramatic. Even duckweed has disappeared. But its like the monstera roots know there is wood there -- for the first time i see aquatic roots shooting out lateral rools.

So now Im thinking about rehoming the shrimp, giving up on the gourami and adding 6 barbs to the tank instead. What do you think? I welcome suggestions of other stocking plans.

Sorry for bad picture. I also would love advice on how to take aquarium pictures... should i have turned up the lights in the aquarium for photo?

Stocking suggestions for planted tank?
