Americans are kind of dumb and lazy when it comes to corruption and society

For example, Americans love to point fingers at millionaires and billionaires for exploitation and corruption in government, healthcare, and law—yet a quarter mile away sits a subdivision full of people earning six figures or more as quiet cogs in health insurance, corporate law, or e-commerce companies that sell every scrap of user data through constant telemetry and surveillance.

These people remain basically invisible because the same outraged Americans can't be bothered to understand how any of it actually functions.

It's always been this way, going as far back as the Pinkerton union-busting era. Take out a few intelligent, vocal, and influential people, and the rest just fall into some malaise of obedient compliance. Lazy and dumb..
