My sister might lose her kids and will blame me...
TW: @bu$e
TLDR: My sister is going to blame me instead of herself and her @bu$ive baby daddy if they lose their kid again. There's a meeting coming up and I need advice on how to handle it.
My (34F) sister (35F) - we'll call her A - released her first child (13F) into child services at birth. Over the past six years, A has been trying to get this child back, so that the second child (6F) has a sibling. It's been a WILD ride. It started with supervised visits, in neutral places. Then family (myself, my children, my mother and brother) were allowed to meet her and eventually take her places.
Fast forward roughly a year and my sister loses visitation and we (family) are also on a no-contact list because child services doesn't want us telling A where her kid is. Fair enough, except that now this poor kid think the only family she's ever met, and just recently at that, have abandoned her again.
So, we finally get visitation back, then A's baby daddy (43M) - I'll call him B - gets pulled over drunk with his two year old in the back seat. Police can't get ahold of A because she's at a party that B dropped her off at. She ABSOLUTELY knew he was intoxicated and still allowed him to drive with their child in the car. Obviously the two year old is immediately apprehended by child services, so now A has two cases on the go. The two year old was released into the care of her paternal grandfather, where she stayed for six months until he got tired of having her cramp his style.
Because of the DUI, A and B are under the scrutiny of the police and social/child services. B has mandated AA and anger management. They have mandated couples therapy. There are social workers in and out of their home (which my mother owns and allows them to live in for the cost of the insurance) to help them figure out finances, household chores, etc. It took A and B TWO YEARS to get themselves together enough to have kid two stay in the house overnight. It took another year to get her back full time. It's now been another year or so having her in the house full time.
During that year, they also had visitation with kid one, which also built up to overnights. Overnights were recently revoked when she reported @bu$e (allegedly B shoved A). A and B then proceeded to blame kid one for the overnights being revoked.
Well now, they have another meeting set up with the case workers and their "support teams" to discuss whether kid two will be allowed to stay, or if she goes back into the system until she's old enough to look for her parents. A messaged me to tell me to "be nice" in this meeting. Meaning I shouldn't say anything about B verbally, emotionally, and financially @bu$ing A. He yells her, insults her and her family, tells her he can get a lay anywhere and he doesn't need her, and made her quit her job to stay home with their daughter when they got her back but still complains about having to pay all the bills. He regularly tells A she can't eat "his" food, and that he doesn't care about, and will not support kid one because she's not his. I have pictures of their conversations, and have heard it all myself, but she doesn't want me to say anything about it at the meeting (she also doesn't know I've already emailed both case workers).
She literally said "this is our LAST CHANCE to keep her, then shes gonna till shes old enough to look for me, plz, it will also put a damper on luna, and I am working so hard with both of them it will year me apart and if YOUR WORD gets them taken again....idk how I'll feel..." (please note that "gonna" is supposed to be "gone" and "year" is supposed to be tear. I copied her message lol).
Because of B's consistently bad attitude and behavior, I cannot support returning the child to then WHILE THEY LIVE TOGETHER. I think it would be fine of he moved out and they shared custody, but A and B refuse to separate despite him living on the basement and leaving her to do all the housework and childcare upstairs. Including cooking for him...
So, what should I do? Keep my mouth shut at the meeting? Tell everyone my perspective? Do I even bother attending the meeting, given that I've already emailed the case workers?
