help pls

i recently started college and finished my first semester and started with just a few classes and one of them had conflicting due dates with my personal life so i had to drop it. I made sure before doing so to call my academic advisor to make sure i wouldn't lose my financial aid or owe any money at all and she said no at most i'd pay the class fee. i made sure with her multiple times as well and also made sure with financial aid who said the same. i dropped the class around october time. then the semester ends and we're on break, i get an email on the new year saying i lost my financial aid and i owe 872 dollars now. i emailed my academic advisor about it and got GHOSTED. I finally after 2 months got an appointment and pretty much just said i could've done something earlier but i didn't even get notified till my school was on break? she also said something about she believes i didn't know the policies but they were the ones who told me i was fine word for word? i've appealed using the internal conflict thing they have but what can i do? i can't afford to pay that there's a reason im on financial aid lol. i also had to miss an entire semester due to my academic advisor ghosting me
