Long Luteal Phase Yet Again

DISCUSSION

I haven’t really tracked my cycle throughout the years. My period always came “regularly” enough and I wasn’t trying to get pregnant so I didn’t bother tracking. Now, at the ripe old age of 42, my husband and I are trying for a baby. I do have a child from a previous relationship back when I was 20, so everything was working well at one point.

I’ve only been trying to conceive for a couple months. My first cycle was 39 days long with a 19 day luteal cycle. Frustrating, but I chalked that one up to just coming off of an IUD and not tracking my BBT accurately. The next cycle was only 16 days total. So then I supposed I actually didn’t ovulate the cycle prior even thought I had a positive opk. This cycle I had high hopes that things were normalizing and I would have a normal cycle. But here I am, 15 days DPO, period nowhere in sight, not pregnant, and I am 99% sure I ovulated on CD 15 according to my chart. I had a positive OPK and a sustained temp rise that hasn’t dropped yet. I know a long luteal phase isn’t supposed to be a thing but… Anyone else have a super long luteal phase? Could something be wrong? To make this all more frustrating we are due to start IVF at the beginning of my cycle that never seems to be coming.
