Wondering if this could be a symptom of maladaptive daydreaming?

Question

Hi all,

I’ve only today discovered maladaptive daydreaming and wondering whether my symptoms align.

I often daydream that I’m a famous rapper/artist and I’m in a concert or the studio or whatever. I might imagine being a football player and winning the championship. I daydream about it a lot and music really feels to help me do that. I wouldn’t say it causes distress for me? Idk it doesn’t feel to be harming me.

When I’m feeling depressed, I often imagine myself bleeding out in front of my ex or I’ll imagine ending my life on the concert stage.

If I feel very very angry at a person, I’ll daydream about wanting to hurt them (don’t worry I am not violent at all).

TBH it feels very weird to talk about it because I’ve always thought it to be just a very weird quirk of mine but wanted to see if anyone can relate?

I’m not sure if it’s just a sign of my depression, maladaptive daydreaming or just a weird version of regular daydreaming.

Any insights would be much appreciated!

Thank you!
