Y-axis layer shifting after removing blob of death
I have a Prusa MK4s that's only a few months old. Recently I had a print fail to adhere to the bed (I think maybe I started it too soon after cleaning the bed with IPA wipes?) and I didn't notice until it had accumulated into a huge blob of PLA.
It took me a couple days but I was able to pry it all off by heating the extruder and carefully applying leverage. I did notice that the black rubber cover had come off of the heater block, and some PLA residue remained on the actual metal; I wiped it off until it was flat but it still had some streaks.
Ever since then my prints have been consistently layer shifting along the Y axis. The first layer is perfect, subsequent ones are way off in like a staircase pattern that alternates directions.
My questions:
• Is this related to the blob/hotend issues? Or is it something else?
• Will I need to replace parts?
• Is there some kind of procedure I can do to fix this?
I am not very good at troubleshooting printers and my tools/workspace are not very I set up to do precise adjustments; it's basically the reason I went for a preassembled Prusa and gave up on my Ender 3. So my priority is just the easiest and quickest way to get back to getting good prints, rather than saving money or chasing down a precise diagnosis.
