Over the last several months I have had a continuous problem where sores develop on the tip and side of my tongue. They have white boarders and then they spread leaving me often having the tip of my tongue looking like it’s lost a full layer. I’ve been told it’s geographic tongue and given a steroid rinse (twice) to absolutely no change. I’ve started with B and zinc vitamins every day. No change. I even went gluten free for a few weeks. No change

If anything things are getting worse. On pics 3 and 4 here you can see a rather deep lesion that showed up a few days ago. Like geographic tongue I basically lost a layer in this area…but I don’t think I’m supposed to be having deep painful spots like this. I went to urgent care about this last Friday and they gave me an anti fungal wash, the trend continues: no change

My worries are if this is some time of bacterial issue that is festering and festering becaus that’s the one thing I haven’t tried

On the other hand if this is geographic tongue why does it hurt so badly, why is it in the same spots (especially the tip of my tongue I get the same 2 repetitive patter of small white circle then big white circle with a painful red area) and what is the cause. Am I in a just suck it up it will go away situation? I can’t see a dentist until late March but this is causing daily stress so hoping for some feedback. Thank you

Is this really geographic tongue?
