How to deal with the passage of time?

Question

As I get older and older, I’ve fallen into the trap of loss.

In other words, if I look back 20 years ago, hardly anything from that time exists today. People leave their jobs, people who I aspired go when I was a child retired, even died.

Even things such as buildings are destroyed and rebuilt as something else, places no longer exist, the memories themselves are so worthless and of so little value to anyone I meet since they will never know my memories, they just see a blank slate. Yet I know I that’s the case for me when I meet others, I know nothing of their past or their memories.

this deathly destructive cycle. How do you feel about loss? The feeling is that of a a cliff I’m hanging onto while more and more of what I know crumbles away until it’s inevitably my turn. Yet the days pass so tragically and my life feels so wasted and there’s nothing I can do about it, nothing anyone can do about it. Yet the day will come where it will seem as if none of it ever happened.

How can I keep going and be creative and positive in a world where we are born to die and death is our only certain outcome?

I’m finding it difficult to find anything in my life that’s worthy of doing.
