Murray last scene was perfect (Joker)

SpoilerFilms & TV

We've all seen it but I just wanna gush on how this ending was great on so many levels. For anyone who hasnt, at the end of joker, arthur, the mc, shoots murray, his hero. To anyone casually watching the movie, this comes a massive shock but it's been clear this would happen simce the start of the scene. Murray represents the rich elites who everyone wishes to be equals with but who in reality, are so disconnected from everyone and look down on people.

Murray was so disconnected its insane. He makes fun of a clearly unstable and mentally ill guy, invites him on the show to make fun of him to his face, hears him confess to murder, insults him and escalates the conflict rather than call security instantly, keeps trying to interview him instead of changing the subject or getting kut of there, arthur tells him he killed them because theyre awful and later says murray is awful, basically telling him he'll kill him and yet he still doesnt get the hint. He only calls security at the last second but its too late and its not because he realised he's in danger but because he got tired of the conversation. Anyone wouldve realised the danger but he was too disconnected from everything, only thinking about entertainment that he didnt realise what he'd done.

The other thing that makes it so good is the viewers dont even know if it really happened. The whole movie made it clear what we see was not whats actually going on in the story. They showed us how even just some girl he sees in an elevator everyday could cause him to hallucinate her as his supportive girlfriend who loves him. So a scene like that couldve just been him imagining what he'd have done to murray as he's getting arrested.
