Why fishing?!

Maybe it’s because the games I can/want to play is pretty narrow in categories but am I the only one that is so done with ”cozy” games always having fishing?

And with cozy I mean those games that’s (normally) single player or lets you choose if you wanna do single or multiple player and is ’take your time’ no stress even if there are things do be done you can do whatever you want whenever you want.

Minecraft is like middle I feel, it can be stressful if you want but you can also be creative and be on peaceful and just build or something.

But most of these games have fishing. Stardew valley, Infinity Nikki, Heartopia, Star stable online and this recently released game Starsand island.

Is fishing just an easy thing to add to games? Do people actually like fishing in these games or are people doing it because they are forced to do it?
