Is grade chasing selfish?

Rant

Okay so its insane how much climbing has evolved during the years. The cutting edge of the sport is wild and very respectable. But i need to rant about how useless the skill is, and actually how very selfish it is to pursue this sport.

Its crazy how people are so overly passionate about chasing grades, especially the gym bros. No offense, but if you aren’t climbing 5.15 or v17, you aint shit. And honestly you’re wasting time coping, when you can be using that energy to serve others. But no…. All of yall are narcissistic simps. Your egos r built up and inflated from past accomplishments that are mediocre at bests. Its honestly sickening how selfish it is. Ive been there… and its really just coping at the end of the day. Theres really no need to climb v17 cuz its useless. Sure its inspiring , but you know whats actually inspiring?

The military. The delta force. These guys are the real badasses. They are elite athletes who full send in combat for our Country. Its not some selfish grade chasing. Their purpose is to protect us. God Bless America, baby!

Think about it. There are climbers who are willing to hike out 30 miles into the backcountry, climb 20 pitches of 5.13, then hike back, all in one day. But this serves nobody but their own egos. Selfish…

Imagine if these people put this amount of energy into serving others…

Sorry for the rant, I love climbing. But lately ive been seeing too many people that are so full of themselves. Grade chasing is useless and should be frowned upon. There’s nothing more disgusting than military aged men simping on a soft v10 in the gym. No offense boulder bros…

But I love climbing. Yes, I do simp around in the gym with my earphones on. Yes, i know its a useless skill. Yes I’m coping. But Thanks for reading my rant, Sorry for projecting to yall.

Also climbing is just glorified gymnastics.
