B.I.A.Y. Day 42: Proverbs 4-6
Proverbs 4- This chapter urges believers to keep these doctrines close and live. God does something interesting in this book, He compares wisdom to being married to a good woman. We need to hold onto wisdom the same way we would hold onto a good godly woman. We need to keep away from evil wicked people.
Proverbs 5- Then God compares sin to a strange woman. Her subtle flatteries will ensnare us and bring us down to the pit. Abandoning wisdom for folly is the same as cheating on a good godly woman with a harlot. Don’t cheat because you will die.
Proverbs 6- Here God shows us that hard work is good for us. He uses ants as examples of good workers. Then God shows us how being lazy is bad. Being lazy will make you poor. Then God gives us the characteristics of a wicked person. Their calamity and destruction will come suddenly and without remedy. We also get a list of seven things God hates and sees as abominations: 1) A proud look. 2) A lying tongue. 3) Hands that shed innocent blood. 4) A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations. 5) Feet that be swift in running to mischief. 6) A false witness that speaketh lies 7) He that soweth discord among brethren.
Then we get a warning against sleeping with a married woman. Nothing good will come from it and you’ll have to deal with the righteous rage of the husband.
