Documentary VND / Matte Box Questions

Camera Question

I have two separate month long upcoming doc shoots, and I'm getting all the niggly problems with my kit ironed out beforehand.

For these two, I'll likely be using my A7siii as the A camera, so no internal ND obviously.

When using the A7siii, my normal Go-To lens is a Sony 24-105 F4, with a 20mm f1.8 and Tamron 70-180 helping round out the pack. I also frequently use a 200-600 on my other shoots.

I've been using URTH filters for a while, but they are getting a bit heat up despite best intentions, and the image quality has gotten to the point where I'm measurably disappointed in it. For these filters I've been able to run the lens hoods on, and just use the lens cap to help reach in and screw the filters into place, allowing for the VND and flare protection at the same time.

I've been looking at nicer filters for a replacement, something like the Nisi True Colors or similar, but been struggling to figure out the work flow for these as they don't seem like they'll fit into the lens hood.

Without the lens hood, I'm into Matte Box territory, and basically I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but I want something that won't become irrelevant as soon as I step up my kit/something changes.

What recommendations/real world knowledge can you share regarding which matte box, if any, to use for run and gun? Nisi C5? Tilta Mirage? Huge spending on a Bright Tangerine + adapted 4x5.65 VND?

Really want a VND that I can also somewhat easily remove in the field, and would love if I can also use this on my 200-600 lens which has a larger then 95mm housing and a 95mm front filter size.
