Attached is a recording of my run, NOT a video guide! The actual guide is written below!

Another simple, yet in-depth guide on how to defeat the Sleeping Wyvern found in a cave in Mirror Lake!
Quick warning before you continue, THIS BATTLE RELIES ON RNG ELEMENTS! While this guide aims to make things easier for you, no two fights against this sleepy boy are the same!

Special thanks to u/UtsuhoTheSun for their guide! It was a huge help and definitely gave me the info I needed to tackle this myself!

Before we begin, PLEASE CREATE A SAVE BACKUP FROM BEFORE THE BATTLE!! Even if you do everything right, there is still a chance that he will NOT retreat!
With this method, you will easily be able to defeat him again, so don't feel discouraged if this happens. Just take a break if you need and tackle it again when you're ready ♡

(This happened to me on my first run. Thankfully, I had my data manually saved to one of the in-game save slots, as well as the PS+ cloud service, so I was able to turn back the clock and try again)

WHAT YOU NEED:

1. Three (S Rank) (Neutral/Non-Element) Dreadqueen Rathians - SPEED attackers. Their Egg Skill: Solar Cry is mandatory for this method

2. (S Rank) Purple Gypceros - POWER attacker. His Tail Stun is a boon in this fight whenever it's safe to use it

3. (S Rank) Nerscylla - TECH attacker. Her Sleep Needle + is fantastic! Use it during an ENRAGED Head-to-Head (with your Rider) for a Double Attack. It is very easy inflict the Sleep status against this monster

4. Pet Jewel/Decoration - this can be purchased from the Melynx (black cat) General Store

5. Anjanath Bow (Flammenbogen) - this Bow is insane! After using your Blast Coating skill, you will inflict the Blast status constantly throughout the fight using your Rapid Shot skill

6. Gyperos Hammer (Venom Monster) - the Sweet Spot skill you used for your last Feral Fight is very comfortable here too

7. Magia Charm Hunting Horn or any other weapon that has an open Jewel/Decoration slot - you will need this to slot in the Pet Jewel/Decoration

8. Namielle Armor (Tentacle Armor)

9. Kora (and her Gravios, Gravy) as your Partners

10. Paintballs - these can be crafted with Sap Plants and Paintberries

11. Vital Essence (OPTIONAL)

12. Shock, Pitfall, and Tranq Traps (OPTIONAL) - though these are optional, I highly recommend bringing all three as a safety blanket/last resort. These (and the Vital Essence) can be farmed from chests found inside of any rarity Monster Den during a random chance item abundance event

UNDERSTANDING THE METHOD AND WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO WIN:

- Starting the battle, the monster will be asleep for three entire turns. DO NOT WAKE HIM UP

- (Turn 1) Have Rathian 1 use her Egg Skill: Solar Cry, and have your Rider use their Pet skill to increase Rathian 1's Kinship Gauge. Ignore what Kora's doing

- (Turn 2) Switch to Rathian 2 and do the same as before

- (Turn 3) Switch to Rathian 3 and do the same as before

- (Turn 4) The monster will now be awake and will either use a Power attack (perfect opportunity to Double Attack Head-to-Head with your Rathians to build more Kinship) or he will use a skill (this WILL kill you, so I highly recommend setting a Trap here to avoid losing a Heart so early)

- From now on, pay attention to what Kora's doing. If she places a Trap, that's a free turn. If she uses her Shielding Stance skill, that's a free turn. If she uses her Kinship Skill with Gravy, that's a free turn. Take advantage of these moments to build Kinship or inflict abnormal status effects

- Your main goal is to max out your Kinship Gauges with your Rathians. You will need these to survive his AoE attacks

- Your secondary goal is to inflict status effects to eat away at his health. If you can, get your Rathians to use their Toxic Sweep skill to inflict Noxious Poison. Alternatively, you can switch to your Purple Gypceros to Tail Stun and wittle away at the monster's Wyverngauge for a Topple (do NOT use Synchronized Strike when prompted)

- If you are focusing on inflicting abnormal status effects, switch to your Anjanath Bow (Flammenbogen) and use your Blast Coating skill. After that, spam the Rapid Shot (BRK) skill. The sooner you fill your Coating Gauge, the faster you inflict Blast statuses. When the Blast effect explodes, it will deal a ton of damage to the monster, so use your Bow as often as you can

- If you notice that the Battle Line is NOT drawn between your team and the monster, ALWAYS play it safe and use your Kinship. Do NOT use your Kinship Skill, and only Ride to survive the AoE attack. This specific AoE cannot be canceled under any circumstance, so it's better to just eat it

- When the monster is at low health, and you can see him drooling, throw your Paintball to increase the chance of him retreating to a Den. It is also recommended that you have your Purple Gypceros out when the final blow is dealt, as it passively increases the odds of the monster retreating too

THE SLEEPING WYVERN'S BEHAVIOR:

Unfortunately, it's a little hard to pin down a "Turn Order", as this fight is somewhat influenced by RNG. Even so, there are some behavioral notes to be aware of, so keep these in mind while you fight!

- When the monster is CALM, their Head-to-Head attacks will be POWER

- When the monster is ENRAGED, their Head-to-Head attacks will be SPEED

- After a Head-to-Head turn, it is extremely likely that the monster will use his single-target attack skill. If it targets you or your Monstie, check to see if Kora is planning on setting a Trap, using her Shield Stance skill, or using her Kinship Skill (Magma Surge). If she is, you and your Monstie are safe. If she isn't, use your Kinship Gauge (Ride) to tank the attack, place a trap of your own, or if the Wyverngauge is low enough (0.5 of the gauge or less), have your Purple Gypceros use Tail Stun

- As previously mentioned, if a Battle Line is NOT drawn between members of your team and the monster, always assume that it is going to use its AoE Skill. This specific attack can not be canceled under any circumstance, so use your Kinship to Ride your Monstie and tank the hit

If you're sticking to the method, playing it smart and playing it safe, you should have a relatively easy time taking him down! Just remember to make a backup save before the fight, as this is your one and only chance to snag his eggs!

Just stay focused, patient, and calm! You've got this, Riders! ♡
