Monroeville/Gateway Public Schools?

I am debating which school district to focus my applications in as an experienced teacher who is used to small-ish town title 1. I have heard great things about a lot of the school districts in the PGH are, but I'm curious what people's thoughts and experiences are with working in Gateway or living in Monroeville. Is the crime actually that bad? What would teachers recommend?
