They updated their policy the other day. There’s an INSANE chunk that they’ve added since the previous version in June 2025!! (See images)

OpenAI basically admits that if they go bankrupt (which they likely will), then they will (likely) sell your personal data to the highest bidder.

Pretty fucked, right?? It gets worse. You might wonder if your chat history is “anonymized” from you. Not really. They might automatically redact mentions of your name and addresses, but the rest of the text stays as-is.

If someone actually were to collect all your convo history, do you think they could identify you even without your name/address?

So if you’re a free user, all your convo data is vulnerable. \*Even\* if you’re a \*paid\* user who \*opted out\* of sharing your data, many of your conversations are likely exposed to this! If you ever hit “thumbs up”, “thumbs down”, select a preferred A/B response, etc… they now have that entire conversation log. And you can’t delete it no matter what.

So it looks like even OpenAI knows the writing is on the wall and they’ll likely go bankrupt. Just be mindful of what data you share with them because it’s probably going to someone with much worse intentions than even them. I don’t mean to fear monger but this is all likely to occur.

Be careful what info you share in ChatGPT…
