does lamotrigine lose efficacy over time?

basically it was like magic at first, and still i am functioning to a high degree even when depressed. like typical bp 2, my depression is severe and my hypo just helps me function and socialize etc. my dep episodes are getting worse as time progresses and the hypo only comes in little spurts.. and it’s embarrassing bc my family and everyone expects me to be “fixed” bc of lamotrigine. idk what to do. i am ab to move to start a job after graduating college this may, and im just worried im unprepared and it will just get worse. thoughts? has anyone been on lamotrigine and noticed it lost effect after a while? it is such a hard pill to swallow realizing we are stuck w this disorder our whole lives.
