The Verdict Cycle [Dark-Fantasy Apocalyptic, 85k words]

Critique My Story Excerpt

Hi all!

I working on my first story and I will be very honored if some of you want to check it, I am ready to share the first 2 chapters of the story.

I am welcoming feedback and comments. Please find below the summary:

The world does not end with fire.

It ends by pretending nothing is wrong.

In the quiet town of Fairview, winter arrives without warning—and without explanation. Ice spreads where it should not. Sound behaves strangely. Distance feels wrong. While the world insists this is only weather, two sisters feel the truth pressing beneath the surface.

Emma believes in control. In endurance. In pretending fear can be managed if you refuse to name it.

Isabella, blind since childhood, hears what others cannot: the thinning of space itself, the subtle collapse of rules everyone else depends on.

As ordinary life fractures in ways too precise to be accidental, the sisters discover they are not witnesses to catastrophe—but participants. The world is reorganizing. Patterns are forming. And something ancient, patient, and deliberate has begun to move.

Across realities yet unseen, forces older than myth awaken. Creatures emerge that do not belong to any single legend. Power stirs beneath skin and stone alike. And humanity—confident, loud, and unprepared—continues to explain everything away.

The Fracture is the opening chapter of The Verdict Cycle, an epic saga of collapsing realities, inherited power, and the cost of refusing to choose. A story about denial as a survival instinct, about control as both shield and weapon, and about the moment when the ordinary world finally runs out of excuses.

The verdict has already begun.
