[Student] Having trouble finding an internship. EU student trying to find US internship

Biomedical

Hello, I am a student who is looking for an internship this summer. I am studying in Europe, however, I am looking to work in the States (US citizen). I've a had a few interviews, a few rejections in Europe, but I have been ghosted by every American Position I've applied for. I've kept the CV intentionally vague, so as not to dox myself, but my real CV has my citizenship on the first line and more details about my internship and projects. (Serving as an Electronics Engineer on a large team building a robot for a Robotics Competition, this is a lot more specific, for example). Is there anything in particular that might be preventing me from making it to the interview round? I tend to apply to internships that specifically match my skill sets (robotics, medical robotics, neuroscience engineering stuff), rather than 100s of roles, and it is a bit disheartening not even to receive a rejection from a company whose requirements I match 100%. Anything that might be working against me?
