We made our way up the ramp and into the new vessel, which while having landed at a pad next to ship we had arrived on, the ship was so huge and the landing field so vast we still needed to take a small bus just to make it to the parked starship in a timely manner, We did so using the same vehicle the exterminator pair had used to come find us outside our ship in the first place.

The same two exterminators who were now half leading, half running away from us. As we made our way towards where this newly thawed out human was.

Captain cutter unfortunately couldn't accompany us as he had to catch a shuttle to get to some important meeting offworld, or that's what he claimed.

We were informed that the human we were going to meet was originally woken up in a hospital room, as we originally did with Anna, but the ancestor man had apparently instantly turned violent the moment he was awoken. And was quickly sedated and relocated to the ship's interrogation room where they attempted to calm him down through the glass.

As we entered the familiarly laid out room, we immediately garnered the attention of the two other human exterminators already present.

They nodded at us in a surprisingly neutral expression given the circumstances.

“Ah greetings ancestors, we are glad you have come to help aid us. I am officer Danson and this is officer Piki. We were attempting to calmly rouse one of your kind, but upon their waking they immediately grew agitated, even before we properly revealed ourselves, we had our initial interactions done with our exterminator hoods on as to not…. unsettle them with our appearance, however they immediately started going off about some kind of American canine predator and accusing us of being members of some organization called the C I A? Whatever that means. Anyways we are presently at a loss, and could really use your advice.”

The one speaking stopped and pointed at his armband, which the pair of sitting exterminators both shared, “We have each been diagnosed before, and frankly were not the biggest fans of those meds in the collars.”

He finished allowing the other to speak. “If we can calm him down without dosing him, that would be the preferred outcome, we need him to be amenable to cooperation after all, and forcing his compliance just seemed like a bad way to start relations with our newest predator ancestor.” She finished.

“Okay hold on slow down, what have you done so far to him “I interjected. ”your guys who brought us here said something about bloodlust countermeasures? I was wondering what exactly that meant?” I said as I pointed out the two standing exterminators trembling just out of arms reach.

I asked this as I approached the observation window to get a look at the damage. Before being stunned into silence at the utter disaster that laid before me.

What the fuck?

Taking note of my silence, officer Danson began to hastily explain. “Ah you see ancestor, those are our blood lust countermeasures, they were put in place in case one of the predator rescues had any issues with their instincts, the first measure we tried was cloned organ flesh.” He glanced towards Aiko and Dr.Bilnen “grown in a lab, just like a cloned organ, completely ethically sourced. We speculated he may be hungry and needing to sate his blood….”

“Humans don't have bloodlust!” I snapped, cutting him off straight away. “The term is explicitly metaphorical when used on humans! Also what's with the stuffed animal and that rat on that string hanging from the ceiling!?”

The exterminator seemed to sink in on himself in embarrassment upon witnessing my frustration.

“It's ummm…..” one began tepidly.

“They are prey substitutes… ancestor." the other spoke ashamedly. “In case one of you needed to uhhh…. needed to exercise your chase instincts.”

I sighed, leaning over the table and pinching the bridge of my nose.

“Ok everyone listen up! I want this to be included in the record for any future awakenings.” I leaned forward, speaking sternly.

“ONE. These ‘bloodlust countermeasures’ are fit for animals not people. And treating a person like an animal is only going to make them MORE angry, especially if they're already upset, understand.”

I got a tepid nod from all the exterminators in the room save Daisy. “And number TWO….. If you're trying not to anger, humiliate or demean an ancestor. NEVER! EVER! Put a male ancestor in a god damn dress!”

What the fuck is this damn thing made of? What kind of sick psi-op shit is this? This ridiculous humiliating dress they had put me in looked as frail as it was frilly, but no amount of tugging at it and trying to rip it to pieces was working!

Was this some new type of kevlar the Americans were trying out? They must have advanced the technology quite far to make it look so innocuous.

The most infuriating part about this whole situation was that the dress did seem to have a zipper on it. I could theoretically take it off, but due to my strength training and bulk I lacked the flexibility to even reach it.

Not only was I collared and locked in a cell, being fed like a fucking dog off the floor, and tossed god damn chew toys to boot, I was being emasculated by being forced into this humiliating pink dress!

I punched the one way mirror hard in anger.

“When I get out of here I’m going to gut you Americans like a dog!!!” I yelled.

I don’t know how they had managed to nab me in the Afghan mountains, but I would have put money on it being the CIA. They would have the budget for the thermal cameras needed to even track me down and spot my blind, concealed as I was, they also had the fucked up minds to put a grown man in a dog collar and a pink frilly kevlar dress!

I heard about the American C.I.A having done some pretty fucked up experiments, if the rumors passed down by my contacts in the KGB were anything to go by, experiments to do with dolphins and LSD, I shuttered just thinking of the sparse details I garnered about those experiments. (Seriously don't google it! If you know you know.)

I quickly shook off the feeling however. I had to focus on escape, who knows what messed up methods they may try soon to extract intel from me. But from what I could gather, this cell was airtight. No bedframe to weaponize or make tools from, the mattress was some kind of solid foam pad, so I couldn't harvest spring wire to make a lockpick or shiv. Solid steel walls that would be impossible to tunnel through, and even if I could, they showed no hesitation to sedate me ;somehow; and move me from cell to cell when it suited them.

I was continuing to ruminate on potential options of escape when I heard a voice come through some sort of electrical speaker in the room, though its source was unknown to me.

The words being spoken cut in abruptly, as if the speaker was mid sentence. Was I supposed to be hearing this? I better listen carefully.

“.....is he even wearing a dress? Why is he not in a hospital gown or something?”

There it was, an english voice again, deeper than the other voices I had heard earlier however. At first I thought it was a malfunction in the room's speaker system that made the voices from earlier come across as more childlike, but the voices that came after the first one over the same speaker system put that theory into question.

“You and Anna didn’t seem to like the idea of wearing similar outfits to others, so we grabbed a random outfit file from the research town’s herd style archive. We even removed the holo effects so as not to scare him!”

Hospital? Research town? Herd style? Was this some sort of psychological research experiment going on here? I really don't appreciate the sound of that.

“Where the hell is the button for the intercom?”

“Oh um, your hand is on top of it right now ancestor."

“Well crap. uh hello… Hello!” I heard what sounded like someone putting on an audio headset come over the speaker. “Excuse me sir, can you hear me? I'm so sorry about all of this. Please tell me what the idiots have told you so far.” The male voice spoke.

I considered for a moment whether to play along or not. No doubt these people knew who I was, and what I was capable of. It must have taken a lot of planning to get me here, I wanted to not answer. to resist with all I was worth, but I needed to gather all the intel I could, to figure out my reason for being here and a possible way out.

I took a moment to solidify my plan of action in my head, and answered in English. “They told me some ridiculous story about being abducted by aliens, and that they had rescued me, they said this however whilst I was collared and tied down to a bed!”

“dah shit okay… what do you remember before waking up here, what's your name by the way actually, mines Beau, Beau hunter.”

This was an odd angle to go for? Were they playing dumb? What for?

My interrogation training however told me these were the softball questions, to get me talking, I had to tread carefully, better not say anything he didn't already know. “My name is Chekov and I was hiking in the Afghan mountains, beautiful weather this time of year actually.”

“Shit it sounds like they nabbed another camper. Listen here Chekov, you're the second person I have had the pleasure of meeting like this so I'm just going to play it straight and rip the band-aid all the way off right here right now.”

He paused, seeming to catch his breath.

“Okay so…. About a thousand or so years ago, a species of dog looking aliens abducted you from earth, they knocked you out and froze you, placing you in a form of……”

“Cryostasis!” One of the younger sounding voices piped in.

“Yeh…yeh that, anyways, cryostasis makes it so you can be asleep for a very long time without aging. The aliens who did that to you also sort of conquered earth and modified the human race into prey animals, and changed the culture, a lot! But the modern day humans managed to give the alien oppressors the boot, and they recently rescued you from their archive facility where they kept frozen ancient members of the species they conquered for historical research purposes later on, they got you out of there and unfroze you, and just recently woke you up aboard this ship. The world and people you knew are long gone by now I’m afraid, lost to time and alien meddling, I’m sorry, but that's the truth.”

What kind of lie is that supposed to be? What was even the meaning of all of this? I was beginning to empathize with those dolphins right about now. I didn’t respond right away, how was I supposed to reply to this horse shit?

The voice quickly filled the silence. “listen your not a prisoner, the people who are taking care of you are just really really scared of you, but they would happily let you out so long as you agree to not hurt anyone, I’m actually going to let you outside now, and show you that everything I have just said is the truth, I just need you to give me a few minutes to prove it to you. I'm going to open the door, and let you out, just promise not to freak out and attack someone, the collar you're wearing has loads of weird alien drugs and a shock feature apparently, and like three of the people in the room right now have the remote to it. I know it sucks, and it's not fair, it's just like these guys are really really scared of us, and also each other? It's weird, anyways, do you agree with my proposal?”

I didn't know what I was getting into, but this was a game I had to play, as I would achieve nothing in this room as much as I hated to admit it to myself.

“Okay fine, I will go along with your little game american man.” I spoke, having recognized his midwestern accent.

“Uh….. America doesn't really exist anymore, neither does the soviet union though I'm sorry to say.” He spoke as I heard the sound of the door clicking open.

“You can come out now, take your time, there is nothing to worry about.”

I slowly walked through the cell door, the room was crowded, filled with these weird messed up looking humans, with terribly elongated mutated faces. They must have been the products of some twisted medical experiments, I definitely didn’t want to leave my fate in the hands of whoever did this.

Quickly taking in my surroundings I observed the room, locking onto what had to be the three control remotes with only a passing glance. Two were located in a silver suited things hands, another on the table in front of the third one.

I ran the math in my head, six pip squeaks, one grown man of average build, and one grown woman, unarmed like the other grown up, in a crowded room, with the door wide open.

I had the muscle.

I had the mass.

And I had the reach.

All I needed was a distraction.

“One moment.” I said stopping in between my cell door and the exit door to the observation room.

“There is something I wish to say first.”

“Whats that?” One of the silver suited figures asked.

I smiled jovially, “Let us dance comrades.”

“What? What do you…. ”

CRACK!

The instant those words had been said, my world flashed black, and the second everything flashed back into focus I was on the ground and looking around the room, and I soon realized so were half of the room's exterminators. I felt a squirming below me.

“Get off of me!”

I rolled off the individual, quickly recognizing it as officer Piki. Looking up I saw Daisy diving for a collar remote that had been knocked onto the floor, one hand out stretched. How she lost her’s I didn't know. But she was quickly intercepted by Chekov, who grabbed her by the other arm and wrenched on it hard, stopping her mere inches from contact, and then throwing her across the room like she was a toy, causing her to scream out in pain as she toppled over two other exterminators in the process.

I wasted no time, I couldn't risk this guy snatching a gun. I charged him, but he threw a punch at me. I got an arm up, deflecting it somewhat, but it still hit like a brick. I didn't so much as tackle him but fell into him as his blow robbed me of all my momentum.

He quickly reached down, grabbed me around my waste and tossed me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing. I heard a scream, and I swore I caught a glimpse of Aiko before landing on something small and soft.

I struggled to focus on the world around me as my head was still spinning from the flip. I saw one remote get kicked under a cabinet, and it looked like Chekov had one in his hand, as he'd kicked another exterminator across the room, flying right into another comrade with a sickening crack as their skulls collided.

I saw one more remote, dead center in the observation room. Anna was the closest to it, and she was currently prying one of the unconscious exterminator cowards off of herself, and locked her eyes onto it.

Chekov dived towards her direction, but not towards the remote. He lunged towards the limp body of one of the unconscious exterminators, and quickly began to tug at his belt.He was going for a weapon!

“He’s going for a gun!” I shouted as I desperately scrambled to get on my feet.

Time seemed to slow down as I pulled myself forward with all my might, feet slipping as I tried to make the distance as fast as I could. I wasn't fast enough though, Chekov slowly lined up the gun’s sights on Anna, who was too focused on securing the remote to see the obvious threat. Daisy was booking it too, but we weren't going to make it in time. All hope seemed lost until a familiar squeaky voice squeaked out.

“Anna, look out!”

And that voice,

was in zurulian.

“Ah!” The clearly bilingual man called out, as his translation implant fired up for the first time.

This startled him, robbing him of his focus just long enough for me and Daisy to grab Chekov’s gun hand and rip it upwards. The weapon quickly discharged and sent a beam of light right into the ceiling, causing hot sparks of molten metal to rain over the room's occupants.

And before Chekov had time to react, Anna smashed her hand down on the remote. The man's collar lit up with a hiss and a buzz and the man was sent spasming straight to the floor with a massive…

THUD.

Leaving him knocked out cold.

What a shitty dance.

--------------------------

I cradled Aiko in my arms amidst the aftermath of Chekov’s rampage, as we sat and waited for the medics to arrive. The poor girl had gotten slammed into the wall when one of the scaredy cat exterminators was thrown into her whilst she tried to run away. It didn't help matters either when I was thrown on top of her seconds later by Chekov. Her nose was bleeding, her snout possibly even broken, and she was bawling up a storm.

I had tried to get up to walk her to the infirmary, but quickly found myself being pushed back to the ground by a firm hand. “Sit down Beau,” Daisy spoke sternly, “The medics are already on their way, you'll just track blood everywhere and further aggravate your injuries.”

As I sat back down, doing my best to be careful with Aiko who seemed to flinch and hiss in pain when I moved her certain ways.

Aiko’s sobbing seemed to relent somewhat after a minute or so had passed, and she finally seemed to take notice of my injuries as well.

“B..Beau your hurt, your nose…” She sniffled out through tears, pointing at my nose in concern. I ran my hand over it, delicately feeling for its location, before eventually feeling a warm wetness dripping off of it.

“Yep dislocated.” I said simply, wiping the blood off on my pant leg. “Don’t worry Aiko, I’ve had worse.” I chuckled out with a light smile, still dizzy from when Chekov had thrown me. And now that the adrenaline was wearing off, my back was starting to feel pretty sore as well.

Yeh staying put was probably a good idea.

Dr.Bilnen went around inspecting the worst of the injured, a few had been knocked unconscious, others rife with sprains and dislocated joints from being thrown by Chekhov like they weighed nothing at all. Most everybody was laid out, moaning and groaning on the floor, licking their wounds.

Not Daisy though. She merely stood watch over everyone, clutching the arm Chekov had most likely ripped out of its socket.

“God damn it.” I mumbled quietly to myself and Aiko.

“What is it?” She managed out weekly.

“A ancestor human did go ‘mad’ and attack everyone, and the stupid collar saved us an ass whooping, Daisy is never going to shut up about this.” I whisper complained to Aiko.

I focused my gaze on Daisy, whose face was notably lacking any sort of smugness that I might have expected from her being proud to be right the whole time. Instead she only looked on at everyone with a deathly worried look on her face.

At one point when the medics were marching into the room, and running weird devices over everyone and shoving far too bright lights into our eyes. I noticed Daisy glancing nervously between Chekov and her glass tablet. I thought maybe she was making sure he stayed asleep, as I knew she could use her phone thing as a remote to our collars. But after a moment I realized the light of the screen wasn't on. The clear glass screen was blank, and the only thing she could see in it…

…was her own reflection.
