The subconscious mind prevails... I wish it hadn't!
If you have read my previous posts, you'll see a lot has been going on. I try not to think about it, but last night for some reason I was dreaming about when I first moved into my house with my partner.
Randomly, it pushed onto me a memory , which I had forgotten all about. I came home one day and my partner had sheepishly told me he was sorry but he had burnt my lovely new dress and had to throw it away. I asked if I could see the dress and he said it was beyond repair..I can't remember acturatly if told me he binned it or gave it to his mum to try and fix ( shes handy with a sewing machine )and it was beyond repair so had to be thrown away. Regardless, I just knew it had been trashed.
It wasn't a special dress, just an unusual but pretty day dress from a hightreet shop, that I wore often. I was a little disappointed but not angry. It was soon forgotten about.
A few weeks go by and we food out with his family. His mother is wearing the dress. I jokingly say nice dress, and says well you know I liked yours so much, I went looking for it in the shop and picked it up on sale. I tried looking for your size but it wasn't there.
I didn't think anything of it at the time.
She also wore it to our engagement meal.
For some unbeknown reason I've woken up today reminded of this 5 old year memory that I didn't even know existed. And I've come to the conclusion that was my bloody dress. It was during a period of no boundaries. Where I'd constantly tell my partner stop your mum coming in my house and taking my washing and ironing I don't want her to do it.
I could let it go. It was 5 years ago. But I'm going to bloody ask about the dress when I get home. I'm mortified actually, if this is true she took my dress , all be it when repairing it and lied about getting the same one in the sale (or just took it and got him to lie about burning it which I don't want to believe )... Is weird. And even more weird if it was mine and wore it to our engagement meal.
