would ceramic ear plugs work?
ok so basically we've all seen those super cute looking acrylic plugs and other cool jewlery that we wish we could wear. unfortunately acrylics arent safe due to how they degrade in the ear and can cause issues.
so theoretically, could someone make their own plugs out of clay, cover it in non toxic glaze to cover pores, and wear those? ceramics can typically be sterilized.
the issues i can think of would be that it'd be extremely difficult to make accurately sized gauges due to how clay shrinks when it dehydrated and how glaze makes it thicker and can be unevenly distributed depending on how the glaze fired. the clay/glaze shouldn't come off unless theres poor materials/craftsmanship or youre really messing around with them and banging them up.
what do you think? if someone managed to make non porus, equally sized ear jelwery would it theoretically be safe to wear?
