How do you kiss with tongue

I’m so sorry if this question has been asked to death but I have no idea what I’m doing. So, me and my girlfriend were having a wonderfully amazing Valentines Day, I just walked her home so we went inside and kissed a little. However I got a little ballsy and asked if she wanted to try French kissing and she agreed. Things were going well until… we actually started using our tongues. I mean it felt nice and all but also… just really awkward and we were both thinking that we were just doing things wrong. So, how do you actually do it because I am fucking flabbergasted. Are you supposed to move your mouth more? If so how do you juggle moving your mouth and tongue at the same time? Really any input would help, and I’m very sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask.
