How to save charges receiving and re-investing money in USD?

Discussion

I am a resident Indian.

I work as a freelance contractor for a US-based firm. The firm wires my payments to my Indian bank account every month, and during the transfer and currency conversion process, some fees are deducted each time.

To also have foreign exposure in my portfoloi, I invest a majority in US stocks, for which I again incur fees while doing outward remittance, including fx conversion and 20% TCS gets blocked for a year (above 10 lakhs).

Since I am earning from USA and investing in USA, I was wondering if there is a way to avoid these double conversions and transfer charges. Is there any setup that would allow me to receive income in USD and use the same USD balance to invest in foreign stocks directly?

Any way through GIFT city route? Or any other suggestions?
