The obsession we have with mixed race women is so self hating and embarrassing

SpoilerVent about Racism 🤬

It's not a secret that in Black entertainment, mixed race and light skin or even white women are the gold standard. That's why most of the biggest "black" entertainers were mixed and or light skinned going back generations.

That's why the paper bag test continues to be used by Black people ourselves. Any dark skinned woman that succeeds is dragged through the mud like Nina Simone.

Makes you forget that in real life, the vast majority of black women look, well .... Black. Brown and dark skin is the most common complexton and light skin is a minority.

We like to point the finger at Black men for pedastalising this ideal but don't Black women do it too?

When Black women started calling Hailee Steinfeld a "black woman" because of her 12%, that's when I knew the plot was fully lost.

Many of us faced colorist and racist abuse from our own people and instead of healing, we do the opposite and have this desire to label people with Whiter and more "desirable" features as one of us so we can seem "prettier" by association.

"Black comes in all shades". Okay, then why does White not come in all shades either? ........

Also, if Black comes in all shades then the meaning of black has been lost and is redundant and we shouldn't even use the word black anymore since it can mean anything and everything.

The backlash against Tyla wasn't just about terminology. Here was a mixed race woman claiming all of her heritage, not just her Black one, and so many of us got angry and felt offended as if she had said she's better than us, which she didn't.

We want mixed race women to say they are the same as us because many of us were bullied for not looking like them. I remember from 2010-2016 when the mixed kid obsession was at an all time peak. I had hope that people were starting to realise how bad our self hatred was and that self acceptance was on the rise but sometimes idk.
