The sound of one hand clapping.
I lost my wife just over two years ago and since then I haven't quite found the ability to genuinely laugh when I'm alone. It can physically happen. But conceptually it never feels right.
In the last two weeks I laughed heartily to myself a few times and both the sound and occurrence felt so strange.
Then I had an epiphany. This is what the sound of one hand clapping feels like. It's not impossible. But it isn't how it's meant to be done.
It will never be done right. Just like everything else.
