How did you overcome fear before your first laparoscopy?

Surgery related

Hi all,

I (27F) have my first laparoscopy scheduled for April this year with a highly regarded endo specialist in my state (yay!).

My specialist did an ultrasound and found an area suspicious of superficial endometriosis. But unfortunately I was so constipated that they had a horrible view so next week I have to do bowel prep and another ultrasound.

Despite this, based on my symptoms and clinical history my specialist says he has a high clinical suspicion of endo and thinks a surgery will be a good next step.

Maybe it’s just because being a woman most of the medical experiences I have are doctors initially thinking I’m full of it and crazy. But I am SO terrified that there will be no endo in the surgery and this is all some sort of psychosomatic pain from stress or anxiety.

My specialist said that at this point it would be rare for him to find nothing but I can’t shake this fear.

How did you overcome this?
