iPod mini 1st Gen

So I recently just bought an iPod mini 1st Generation from eBay because it was one of the few mini's that was affordable enough due to it's battery not being great so I bought a replacement battery and whatnot to use it to try getting away from streaming services but I've heard about Rockbox and how it's a popular software mod for iPods but seeing how the one I've purchased has a monochrome display I wondered if it was even a good idea to first off install Rockbox and continue to keep the old drive (For reference I will eventually plan to flash mod it I just won't do it yet)
