Got hired but at what cost?

Please dont repost to any social media po. I need to know if I am taking the right course of action moving forward, I dont want to regret this decision.

Need advice pls, I've tried chatgpt but I want to know what people here think as well. So M27, F30 both applied for a govt position, intially did it cos I wanted to support and motivate him during the application process. I already have a wfh job for which I am very comfortable and satisfied with, salary for this job is not so high either medyo bumawi lg sa benefits since it is a govt post. FF I got the job , however his mother didnt know that he invited me to apply. His mom was a former employee from that agency and even have connections there. We were the best contenders for that post, and now his mom feels betrayed cos he never mentioned inviting me, siblings think he blew the interview on purpose to make room for me. I was with him every step of the way, he did his very best while I was taking it easy and carefree with my answers. I know and felt that this is what he wanted and Im just happy to support him. Now things got blown out of proprotion, his family were blaming him and accusing him of giving it up for me when he could've not invited me in the first place. I feel so sorry for him cause he was feeling devastated by this, he doesnt want to ruin this opportunity for me but I feel like letting go of this is will be better for me mentally.
