DALI Lighting Control system
I was sent to a fairly new community hub (library / nursery / support groups). The job was to remove five 600x600 panel fittings and one decorative pendant. I took them back to the workshop and my gaffer sourced some more cost-effective replacements.
Two weeks later, I went back with five new panels and refit the same pendant, but with a replacement driver.
After installing everything, the lights wouldn’t dim. They stayed at 100%, while the rest of the lighting on the push-to-make dimmer switch dimmed as normal.
Luckily, I’d kept the original drivers from the old panels. I swapped the drivers over and everything worked properly. I also tried one of the original panel drivers in the pendant and, after a bit of messing about, that worked too.
The staff were happy to run with one less panel in that area, so I left it there.
This is my first time working on a DALI system. My question is:
Do new DALI drivers need to be programmed or addressed into an existing system before they’ll dim properly, or have I missed something obvious?
The original fittings were by Whitecroft Lighting with OSRAM drivers.
I’ve asked around and searched online but can’t seem to get a straight answer. I would have thought this would be a common issue if drivers need commissioning, so I’m starting to wonder if I’ve overlooked something.
Any advice appreciated
