When does Duma Key pick up?

I’m only on chapter 4, it’s classic King, he’s setting the stage. So far it’s a recollection of the accident and a lot of understandable complaining by the main character, but nothing else and pretty boring.

I’m in it for the long haul, just curious when it’s going to get interesting?
